Gongadi Trisha, India’s opening-batter, became the first player to notch up a century in the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. During India’s 2025 ICC Women’s U-19 World Cup Super-Six match, at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, the right-handed batter achieved this feat.

The 19-year-old from Hyderabad achieved the 100-run mark with a single on the last ball of the 18th over of India’s innings, which was bowled by Scotland spinner Maisie Maceira. It took her 53 balls to get to triple digits, and had dealt in boundaries, striking 12 fours and four sixes.
Together with Sanika Chalke, Gongadi led India to a decisive 208-1 score. India reached a commanding 67-0 at the end of the powerplay, courtesy to a barrage of boundaries from openers Kamalini G and Trisha Gongadi after Scotland won the toss and chose to field.
India was cruising at 104 without losing at the midway point. Soon after, the Indian openers put together an incredible 147-run partnership, setting a new record for the highest partnership in this World Cup. India’s innings benefited greatly from her partnership with wicketkeeper-batter G. Kamalini, as the two scored 147 runs in 13.3 overs. Prior to being dismissed, Kamalini made a significant contribution with 51 off 42 deliveries.
In addition to the personal achievement, Trisha’s century broke the previous highest individual score of 93 runs in the 2023 tournament by England’s Grace Scrivens vs Ireland. Trisha has amassed 230 runs in five innings of the tournament, average 76.66 with a remarkable rate of 155.4, which highlights her outstanding form. Trisha’s remarkable century has cemented her place in history and greatly enhanced India’s championship effort.
India stormed into the semi-final with a massive 150-run win, set up by Aayushi Shukla’s 4/8, Vaishnavi Sharma’s 3/5, and Trisha Gongadi’s 3/6, bundling Scotland out for just 58.
