A few of the prominent stars from different parts of the world are leaving the tournament to fulfill their international commitments. The likes of skipper Heather Knight, wicket-keeper batter Amy Jones, Alice Capsey, skipper Laura Wolvaardt, and now, Chloe Tryon is the latest inclusions in the list as they brace themselves up for a bilateral all-format series involving the hosts, South Africa and England from 24th November 2024.

The experienced, White Ferns pacer, Rosemary Mair will replace the South African all-rounder Chloe Tryon for the rest of the WBBL season. The 26-year-old fast bowler Rosemary Mair from New Zealand, returning to the World Cup squad after an injury, played a crucial role with the ball in New Zealand’s maiden ICC Women’s T20 World Cup triumph, and their first ICC title since 2000.

Rosemary finished as the 2nd highest wicket-taker for her side (10 wickets in 6 innings) with the ball after Melie Kerr and the joint 3rd highest wicket-taker of the tournament alongside Afy Fletcher (10 wickets in five innings) from the West Indies. She also returned with a brilliant spell (4-0-25-3) with the ball in her spell in the final on 20th October 2024 against South Africa in Dubai.

The Hobart Hurricanes will be her 3rd franchise in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). She has had an adventurous time in the tournament as she is probably the only player to represent two clubs in one season. She was with the Perth Scorchers for training and accommodation, while she was also called up by the Melbourne Stars to replace Kathryn Sciver-Brunt for one game in the year 2020. She was picked up by Melbourne Renegades for five matches after being released into the pool of players. She picked up five wickets in five innings with the ball for the Renegades.

She moved back to the Melbourne Stars in the same 6th edition of the tournament in the year 2020. She returned with impressive match figures (4-0-30-3) in her spell against the Perth Scorchers in Sydney on 17th November 2020.

She recently represented Central Districts in the ongoing New Zealand Cricket Women’s One Day Competition 2024/25 and returned with exceptional match figures of 10-1-21-6. Her match-winning spell for Central Districts potentially played a role in her being called up as a replacement player for Chloe Tryon in the Hobart Hurricanes set-up.

Chloe Tryon scored 83 runs at a decent strike rate of 110.66 in six innings with the bat for the team. Besides her contribution with the bat, she also picked up four wickets at an economy of 7.41 in seven innings with the ball. The Hobart Hurricanes led by skipper Elyse Villani are currently placed 5th in the points table with 8 points from 9 games including four victories.

Their fate is still in their own hands to keep their campaign alive in the tournament. The equation is very much straightforward for them, as they just have to win their last league game against the Perth Scorchers at the W.A.C.A, Perth. They have strengthened their pace battery by the inclusion of Rosemary Mair going into a potential knockout game against the Scorchers on 23rd November 2024 from 3 PM IST.
