The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League was a blockbuster and a record-breaking edition in many ways. It redefined the way T20 cricket will be played in the near future. The display of power-hitting prowess has been at the heart of this relentless and fearless approach.
The emerging new-age approach is significantly raising the standards in the T20 format, bringing the total close to the 300-raun mark, within reach for any side. The Kolkata Knight Riders under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer clinched their third Tata IPL title (2012, 2014, and 2024) by defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad led by skipper Pat Cummins in what turned out to be a very one-sided final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, in Chennai on 26th May 2024.
Earlier this year, we witnessed a thrilling 2nd edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) that concluded on 17th March 2024. The WPL final between the Delhi Capitals led by skipper Meg Lanning and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru led by skipper Smriti Mandhana at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi also had a lot of similarities with the Tata IPL 2024 final between SRH and KKR.
