This will be the first time Scotland will be playing a 50-overs match since they got the official ODI status in 2022.

Ireland last played an international series against the Netherlands in a 3-match T20I series. The Irish side whitewashed the Dutch side quite comprehensively. Amy Hunter was the top scorer as she scored a total of 95 runs at an average of 47.5. While with the ball in hand, Arlene Kelly was quite lethal as she picked up a total of 10 wickets from 3 innings at an economy rate of 3.90.

Cricket Ireland has also announced the 15-player squad for the series, with Shauna Kavanagh, Jane Maguire, and Aimee Maguire being left out. Alana Dalzell, Joanna Loughran, Leah Paul, and Sophie MacMahon are the players who will fill those gaps.

The 50-overs matches will be played on 17th, 19th, and 21st October, while the T20I matches will be played on 23rd and 24th October. All the matches will be played at the Desert Springs in Spain.

Ireland’s Head Coach, Ed Joyce has said, “We had a busy international summer with two tours and a home series against Australia, but by the time we start the Scotland series it will have been two months since our last international match.

“So, this series is certainly timely as we build towards a big 2024 – a year that features a T20 World Cup that we are obviously seeking to qualify for. A great feature of this squad is that, while young, it still features a significant cohort of experienced players, complemented by some emerging players who are being given the chance to build their knowledge and experience of touring life.”

He further added, “Scotland is always a competitive challenge, and we’re looking forward to a tough series next month.”
