Richardson was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament at the qualifiers for her seven wickets with the ball which included some splendid figures- 2/0, 2/4, 2/24, 1/22 and scoring 76 runs with the bat, the highest being 53 in the Finals against the Netherlands which help Ireland win the qualifiers.

The first reaction of Richardson after winning the award, “It was very exciting to be nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for August and to now be voted as the winner is just so amazing and humbling. It was great to contribute to overall team performances at the European Qualifiers and hopefully, we have done enough to make the next stage and compete on a global level again. Behind every athlete, and any achievement is a volume of people and support, so a big thanks to my teammates, head coach Ed Joyce and wider management. Also, to my workplace Northern Districts, which continues to endlessly support and enable me to play at the top-level”.

Her performance was also appreciated by former Zimbabwean cricketer, Pommie Mbangwa who is now a part of the ICC Voting academy. He said, “What an amazing and important contribution in a tournament that is important to all the teams. What any team wants is for players to stand up at critical times and Eimear’s contributions with bat and ball have come at the right time, been consistent and particularly significant.”
