Pakistan’s Skipper Bismah Maroof blessed with Baby Girl

On 31st August, Bismah Maroof took to Twitter to announce the arrival of her newborn baby girl.

The 30-year-old left-handed all-rounder announced, “Allah SWT has blessed me with a daughter Alhamdulillah.”

She was congratulated by her friends and family for sharing this good news. Additionally, even the PCB as well as the English Women’s Captain Heather Knight congratulated her.

PCB posted, “We congratulate Bismah Maroof on becoming the mother of a baby girl.”
The board jested, “Who do you reckon she would become- a batter or a bowler?”

Wicket-keeper Sidrah Nawaz felicitated her, “MashaAllah congratulation.”
Sadia Iqbal wished, “Congratulations Bisma Baji. Duas for you, your family, and the little angel. Stay blessed!”

Maroof is Pakistan’s has played 108 ODIs for the Pakistan squad and is the second-most capped women’s player after Sana Mir who has played 120 ODIs. She is also the second-highest run-scorer in ODIs with an impressive 2,602 runs record. In the T20I format, she is the top run-scorer with 2,225 runs.

Maroof is also the first woman cricketer to use the maternity leave plans that were recently sanctioned by the PCB. She went on maternity leave in April this year. The Pakistan Cricket Board introduced pregnancy provisions for women in its central contracts system. Under this amendment, Bismah is entitled to her monthly retainer and will receive all the medical provisions.

Maroof’s last international match was in February during the T20 World Cup in Australia. She had to pull out of the tours of South Africa and Zimbabwe earlier this year due to personal reasons and was replaced by Javeria Khan as the interim captain.
