Cricket West Indies has announced the 13-player Women’s squad for their 1st T20I match against the South African Women’s squad. The series consists of three T20Is that will take place at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground following which five ODIs will be played at Coolidge Cricket Ground and Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground.
Experienced off-spinner Anisa Mohammed has been named the interim captain in place of Stafanie Taylor after being identified as a primary contact of a COVID-19 positive case in Jamaica.
The West Indies team earlier defeated the Pakistan Women in two series. They won the CG Insurance T20I series with a 3-0 lead and the ODI series with a 3-2 lead. Following this series, the West Indies women have been preparing at a high-performance camp in Antigua for the upcoming series.
Regular skipper Stafanie Taylor has been ruled out of the T20I leg due to COVID-19 complications.

Lead Selector of Women’s Cricket, Ann Browne-John stated, “The CG Insurance T20I and ODI series against South Africa gives another opportunity for the team to play international matches ahead of the upcoming ICC World Cup qualifiers. It is unfortunate that Stafanie will not be available for this series but there are a number of experienced players who we would be looking to, to fill any void. The young player Qiana Joseph brings another left-handed batter option as well as left-arm orthodox bowling which has been lacking in the team. This will be a good test coming out of the recent Pakistan series since South Africa is one of the higher-ranked teams.”
West Indies Women’s squad:
Anisa Mohammed (captain), Deandra Dottin (vice captain), Aaliyah Alleyne, Shamilia Conell, Britney Cooper, Shanika Gajnabi, Chinelle Henry, Qiana Joseph, Kycia Knight, Hayley Matthews, Chedean Nation and Shakera Selman.
