Before the game, the two shared a light-hearted chat, revealing insights into their on-field rivalry and experiences with their respective franchises.
Before the match, Jemimah Rodrigues and Smriti Mandhana discuss their encounters with each other on the field when playing for and against their respective teams in international cricket. Jemi acknowledged that they share a competitive rivalry when facing each other on the field, emphasizing that it brings out the best in both of them though they remain good friends off the field. Smriti echoed the same feelings, highlighting how much fun and intensity such matches bring to the fore.
Jemimah mentioned, “We are very good friends but when we play against each other there’s a lot of rivalry.”
When asked about the differences between playing in Australia and back home, Jemi spoke about the unique challenges and learning opportunities offered by various leagues, particularly the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). Smriti, who was about to start her first match of the WBBL season, agreed with Jemi’s perspective, acknowledging the differences between playing in Australia and at home but looking forward to the experience.
Jemimah responded, “I think it’s just a different challenge and it pushes you, you know, and brings the best out of me,” Smriti agreed to Jemimah’s point by saying,” It’s a lot of difference playing back home to here but yeah, I think as Jemi said, it’s a good experience“
