Melie Kerr, New Zealand’s rising all-rounder, has made a thunderous comeback in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) Season 10 after missing the first four games due to an injury she sustained in the ODI series against India. Kerr made an immediate impact upon her return, culminating in a stunning four-wicket haul that highlighted her third match of the season. Don’t miss the highlights of her incredible four-wicket haul below.
In match 26 of WBBL 10, a thrilling encounter between the Sydney Sixers and the Brisbane Heat, Kerr’s spell proved unforgettable. With figures of 4 for 23, she secured her maiden four-fer this season, equaling her WBBL best, dismissing key batters to keep the Heat in check. Joined by Sixers’ spin heavyweights Sophie Ecclestone (2 for 18) and Ashleigh Gardner (2 for 23), the trio put up an impressive display, combining for eight wickets and holding Brisbane to a manageable 139.
The Heat’s opener, Grace Harris, top-scored with a brisk 26-ball 39, setting the pace early on. But it was Kerr who took charge to halt their momentum, taking out Harris, Charli Knott, Lucy Hamilton, and Grace Parsons in a commanding spell.
However, despite Kerr’s brilliance with the ball, the Sixers’ chase was derailed by Brisbane’s Jess Jonassen, whose 3 for 24 thwarted their efforts, clinching a 12-run victory for the Heat.
