Melbourne Stars have signed England’s Maia Bouchier for WBBL07

Ahead of Weber Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2021/22 season, Melbourne Stars have signed England’s Maia Bouchier.

The recently held, The Hundred has proven to be a great one for this 22-years-old who played for Southern Braves, the team which finished at the Runner Ups in the Women’s category and the Champions in the Men category.

Her amazing performance made her break into the top 10 of the best strike rate categories finishing with a strike rate of 143.75 and helped her in getting into Melbourne Stars and also a spot in England’s team for their T20 series against New Zealand at the start of this month, this selection is a step ahead in her journey of fulfilling her dream to be the next Natalie Sciver. Sciver is England’s star all-rounder and the first from the country to take a hat trick in T20I.

On her selection to the Stars, Maia Bouchier in a report by Melbourne Stars, said, “I’ve watched the WBBL over recent seasons from the UK and we know what a quality tournament it is to be a part of,” Bouchier said. I’m really excited to make my debut in the competition and I’d like to thank the Melbourne Stars for the opportunity to be involved. The Stars have some fantastic players and I know how close they went to win the title last year, so hopefully, I can make a contribution to a successful season”.

The same report saw a comment from Melbourne Star’s head coach Jarrad Loughman who said, “Maia will be an important part of our squad this season and gives us added depth in our strong batting line-up. She had a good tournament at The Hundred and it was great to see her rewarded with her England selection. Maia’s was a name we had as one to watch and we look forward to seeing what she can do in green this season.”
