Today’s match saw some exceptional performances by both teams. For India it was Mithali Raj getting yet another half-century and reaching the milestone of 20,000 runs in her exceptional cricketing career, debutants Yastika Bhatia and Richa Ghosh too played a crucial contribution to the team with a score of 35 and 32 (not out) respectively.

For Australia Women, it was a balanced performance with both bat and the ball. All the three batswomen used by them to beat the score managed to score at least a half-century with Haynes remaining unbeaten on 93. 18 years old, pace bowler, Darcie Brown led the bowling attack with a 4-wicket haul and a maiden in her 9 overs finishing with the figure of 4/33, getting India’s top order batswomen, Shafali Verma for 8, Smriti Mandhana for 16, Yastika Bhatia for 35 and Deepti Sharma for 9.

This young talent who was the youngest inclusion ever for Adelaide Strikers during the 2019 edition of Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), made her T20I and ODI debut earlier this year during Australia’s series against New Zealand where she was in the playing XI for one T20 in which she finished her 4 overs taking 1 wicket and giving away 26 runs and one ODI where she bowled just a single over giving 6 runs. It is really astonishing to watch Brown taking wickets of India’s best performers in just the second ODI of her career for the country and being adjudged as the Player of the match. Truly an indication of what this youngster is capable of and how well she can rise in her career ahead.
