1st Innings Summary – Both the openers of Sydney Sixers started quickly. While Alyssa Healy got out early after playing some brilliant shots, Ellyse Perry went on to make another half century and remained unbeaten till the end. Erin Burns playing a vital innings at number four as Sydney Sixers lost just three wickets in there batting innings and were able to put up quite a competitive total for the opponents.
2nd Innings Summary – Hobart Hurricanes got off to a cracker start as opener Erin Fazackerley hit a four on the second ball of the innings. But, she was bowled out by Marizanne Kapp by a beauty on the very next ball. Indian batter Smriti Mandhana played short yet crazy innings of 21 runs which included three 6s. It was pretty clear from the body language of Hobart Hurricanes batters that they intended to attack from the very first ball and wanted to make run on each and every ball. But, this proved fatal for them as they lost two crucial wickets to run outs and wickets kept falling just at the wrong time. Wicketkeeper batter Georgia Redmayne didn’t get any support from the other end as her heroic innings was not enough for her team to win.
Player of the match – Ellyse Perry for another powerful and truly athletic performance on the field with 72 not-out which included just eight 4s meaning 42 runs in her innings came from running between the wickets.
