The Women’s Uttarakhand Premier League (WUPL) returns for its second season from September 23 to 26, 2025, promising another exciting showcase of women’s T20 cricket in the state.
After the success of the inaugural edition last year, which saw Mussoorie Thunders crowned champions against the Nainital SG Pipers in a thrilling final, this year’s tournament takes on a fresh flavor with four participating teams, Mussoorie Thunders, Pithoragarh Hurricanes, Tehri Queens, and Haridwar Storm, competing for the title over a fast-paced four-day schedule.
The inaugural edition in 2024 featured just three teams: Nainital SG Pipers, Mussoorie Thunders, and Pithoragarh Hurricanes. Nainital finished on top of the league stage with 3 points from two matches, courtesy of one win and a washed-out game. However, the Thunders peaked at the right moment, clinching the final by 3 wickets against the Pipers to become the first-ever WUPL champions. That win established Mussoorie as an early heavyweight in the competition’s short history.
Season 2 introduces a significant step forward. The addition of Tehri Queens and Haridwar Storm not only expands the tournament but also deepens the competitive pool, ensuring a more balanced and unpredictable league phase. With six league matches scheduled, every team plays two games, and the top two sides will clash in the final on September 26. Matches once again follow a double-header format with afternoon and evening fixtures.
