The 13th match of the inaugural edition of the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup will be played between Ireland and New Zealand on January 17 at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, South Africa. The game will begin at 1.30 PM IST (10 AM LOCAL).

Both teams will play their second game in the tournament. While Ireland went down to West Indies by eight runs in their last outing, New Zealand beat Indonesia by 10 wickets in their previous match.

The right-handed top-order batter of Ireland Women’s U19 led the run chase from the front with a valiant 42 and 38, including four boundaries in the last fixture against West Indies Women’s U19. She came into bat in the third over and held the innings together by being there till the 16th over.

The wily right-arm off-spinner of Ireland Women’s U19 was the pick of the bowlers in her last match against West Indies Women’s U19. She bagged 9/2 in four overs and was the most economical bowler for her side. She struck twice in the 18th over. She also scored an undefeated 15 off 11.

The right-arm speedster of New Zealand Women’s U19 won the player of the match award in her last outing against Indonesia Women’s U19. She scalped 14/3 in four overs and bowled well in the middle phase of the innings. She hit the right straps and was consistent with her lines and lengths.

The dashing all-rounder of New Zealand Women’s U19 made useful contributions with bat and ball in her last appearance against Indonesia Women’s U19. She opened the batting and bowling. With the bat, she scored an unbeaten 38 off 36 and, with the ball, claimed 12/2 in four overs.

Pitch

It will be the third game of the tournament at this venue. The teams batting first and second have won one apiece. The wicket looks good for batting. Expect a high-scoring contest. However, the cloudy conditions and morning start to the game may assist the fast bowlers in the first hour of play.
