Following India’s thumping win in the 1st of three One Day Internationals (ODIs) in the ongoing series against visiting South Africa, the latter must play a must-win game, the 2nd ODI, on the 19th of June 2024. The game commences at 1:30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST) and held at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.

Players to watch out:
Jemimah Rodrigues
The 23-year-old middle-order batter, from 28 ODIs, has accumulated 691 runs, including the highest score of 86, at an average of 26.57. In the lead-up to the series, Jemimah played a lot of T20 cricket and was consistently among the runs. However, in the ODI opener, she departed for 17, and it will be expected of the seasoned batter that she builds on the start, leading the scoring.
Asha Shobana
The 33-year-old leg-spinner, following her Twenty20 International (T20I) debut during India’s recent series against Bangladesh where she claimed 4 wickets in 2 outings, made her ODI debut in this series opener. Asha straightaway made a significant impact, returning figures of 4/28, and can be counted on to continue this form, delivering the breakthroughs.
Sune Luus
The 28-year-old all-rounder in ODIs, from 103 outings, has amassed 2240 runs and taken 115 wickets from 88 bowling innings, registering respective bests of 107* and 6/36. Sune hasn’t bowled a lot lately, and playing as a specialized batter, she has only managed a string of starts, including a 33 in this series opener. It is hoped she steps up with a good knock in the decider.
Tumi Sekhukhune
The 25-year-old pacer, maintaining an economy rate of 4.65, has bagged 21 wickets from 22 ODI innings and can also be handy with the bat. Tumi returned figures of 2/25, 1/27, and 1/24 in her previous three outings (T20Is), and though she warmed up for the ongoing series producing figures of 1/16 (3), she didn’t feature in the series opener. She is bowling in rhythm and must have a go.
Pitch:
The Chinnaswamy Stadium features a well-balanced center wicket that’s favorable for both batters and bowlers, especially the spinners, to make an impact on the game. The average score in the 240s indicates favorable conditions for scoring runs as well.
Weather:
The conditions aren’t very ideal, with rain on the radar later in the match duration if the skies don’t clear. The temperature is expected to hover around the late 20s (°C), with moderate winds and a humidity level of 69%.
Fantasy playing XI:
Richa Ghosh, Laura Wolvaardt, Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Suné Luus, Marizanne Kapp, Deepti Sharma, Nadine De Klerk, Radha Yadav, Shreyanka Patil
