They took to their social media platform ‘X’ to share the names of the players chosen to represent Japan in international matches. They announced both the National team as well as the development team in the post.

The Japan Women’s team haven’t tasted much success at the international level but continues to make promising strides. Most recently they participated in the 2024 Asian Cricket Women’s Premier Cup, playing against teams like Oman, China, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Malaysia respectively. Out of those, Japan beat the Chinese and Omani but lost against UAE in the group stage. Despite that, Japan managed to qualify for the third quarter final against Malaysia, despite tough competition they fell short by 16 runs to register a win, resulting in Japan losing and getting knocked out of the 2024 Asian Cricket Women’s Premier Cup.

The Japan Cricket Association selected the players in both squads based on their recent performance, and they have also given a chance to some young talented players.

The Japan Women’s National Squad for 2024 has many talented players. In this squad, Mai Yanagida is the most experienced player, having played more than 30 international matches. Japan’s squad consists of 3 batters, with one wicket-keeper batter option, 6 out-and-out bowlers, among which 5 are medium pacers and 1 is an off-break bowler, and 5 all-rounders, including 1 bowling all-rounder and 4 batting all-rounders. This Japan squad seems to be pretty balanced and ready to showcase their potential in upcoming matches.
