Group E: Round VII – Tamil Nadu and Saurashtra thrash Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram – Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2019

Match 1: Arunachal Pradesh vs Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu won by a great margin over Arunachal Pradesh at Rajkot. Batting first, Tamil Nadu gave an enormous target of 200 runs for Arunachal Pradesh to chase. The openers had a brilliant outing. Shushanthika Chandra Sekar smashed 79 runs in 57 balls while Eloksi A Arun batted with a strike rate above 150. She played an unbeaten knock of 74 runs in 49 balls. When Sekar was bowled in the 16th over, Meenakshi Srinivasan came to the crease and made 26 runs in the 15 balls that she faced. Tamil Nadu finished the first innings on 199/1.

Arunachal Pradesh could never match the run rate of Tamil Nadu. While they needed to score almost 10 runs per over, they scored at a run rate of 3.30. Opener Neelam Rajput made 15 runs off 38 balls while the captain Bengia Ritu was run out on 3. Runa Sarkar 20(31) and Nabam Yapu 18(19) were the top contributors. Tamil Nadu’s Ramyashri Prasad took 3 wickets as Arunachal Pradesh could only make 66 runs after losing 6 wickets.

Result: Tamil Nadu won by 133 runs.

Match 2: Cricket Association of Mizoram vs Saurashtra

Mizoram batted first against Saurashtra at Rajkot. Ruhita Buley played a splendid knock of 47 runs in 51 runs and remained not out when other batters were giving their wickets away. None of the other batters could score in double digits. Mizoram made 72/5 in their 20 overs. Saurashtra captain Jayshree Jadeja led the bowling unit as she took 3 wickets in her 3 overs.

It was Jayshree’s day as she made an unbeaten 50 to go with her 3-wicket haul. She led the batting as she played a captain’s knock. She made a half-century in 39 balls as Riddhi Ruparel scored 16 runs in 20 balls to chase the score in 9.5 overs.

Result: Saurashtra won by 10 wickets.
