Group C: Round III – Mumbai, Hyderabad and Tripura record significant wins over Baroda, Nagaland and Pondicherry

Three Round III matches of Group C took place on 17th October. The matches were conducted in Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana and BKC Ground in Mumbai.

Match 1: Cricket Association of Pondicherry vs Tripura

Venue: Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana, Kandivali, Mumbai

Tripura started the match with good batting from its openers. Wicketkeeper batter Mouchaity Debnath made 52 runs in 48 balls. Tripura scored 142 runs losing 3 wickets.

Pondicherry batter Bhakti Tamore displayed a scintillating performance. She made 87 runs in 65 runs. Alas, her heroics were not sufficient to take her side home as other batters couldn’t contribute much. Pondicherry made 122/3 in their 20 overs.

Result: Tripura won by 20 runs.

Match 2: Baroda vs Mumbai

Venue: BKC Ground, Mumbai

Mumbai batted first and set 120 as the target for Baroda. India player Jemimah Rodrigues scored only 2 runs before Tanvir Shaikh struck her lbw. Wicketkeeper batter Hemali Borwankar made the most runs – 40 runs in 34 balls. Captain Shweta Haranhalli and Vrushali Bhagat made 25 and 24 runs respectively in 26 balls. Mumbai finished on 119/8.

In the second innings, both the openers of Baroda departed on ducks. Jaya Mohite scored 22 runs in 26 balls and remained not out. Baroda made 66 runs losing 9 wickets. Rodrigues, who recently bagged her maiden international wicket in a thrilling match against South Africa, bowled her quota of 4 overs for Mumbai. She got 2 wickets and gave only 8 runs in her spell.

Result: Mumbai won by 53 runs.

Match 3: Hyderabad vs Nagaland

Venue: BKC Ground, Mumbai

Faisal Khan of Nagaland top-scored for their side in the first innings. The batter scored 61 runs in 63 balls, scoring the bulk of the runs. Nagaland finished on 97/3.

Hyderabad comfortably chased the target with more than 5 overs to spare. Sravanthi Naidu top scored with 39 runs off 40 balls while Ramya Doli 21(18) and captain Mamatha Kanojia 28(20) also had contributions. Doli was out mankading.

Result: Hyderabad won by 8 wickets.
