Northern Superchargers led by skipper Hollie Armitage defeated Birmingham Phoenix led by skipper Ellyse Perry by 61 runs at Edgbaston, Birmingham in the 19th match of the season. Trent Rockets led by skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt were all set to face London Spirit led by skipper Heather Knight at Trent Bridge, Nottingham in the 20th match of the season.

London Spirit skipper Heather Knight won the toss and opted to field first. After being inserted to bat first, the Trent Rockets openers Bryony Smith and Grace Scrivens got their side off to a flying start with a 74-run opening partnership. Bryony Smith was found short of her crease to provide the first breakthrough for London Spirit.

Skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt joined Grace Scrivens at the crease and the duo stitched a crucial 44-run partnership for the 2nd wicket to take their side past the 100-run mark. Deepti Sharma picked up the big wicket of the opposition skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side. Grace Scrivens soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 3rd breakthrough for London Spirit. She completed her well-deserved half-century, her maiden in the Women’s Hundred before getting dismissed.

Heather Graham joined Ashleigh Gardner at the crease, and the duo stitched a crucial 28-run partnership for the 4th wicket to take their side close to the 150-run mark. Deepti Sharma came back and picked up Ashleigh Gardner’s wicket to provide the fourth breakthrough for London Spirit. Trent Rockets eventually ended up with a total of 158/5 in their quota of 100 deliveries. It is the highest total of the season so far. It is also the highest total for Trent Rockets in the Women’s Hundred.

Grace Scrivens (55 off 43 balls), Bryony Smith (34 off 22 balls), Heather Graham (22 off 12 balls), and skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt (21 off 12 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Trent Rockets. Deepti Sharma (20-8-25-2), Sarah Glenn (20-8-28-1), and Charlie Dean (20-8-26-0) were the top performers with the ball for London Spirit.

Chasing a target of 159, London Spirit openers Meg Lanning and wicket-keeper batter Georgia Redmayne got their side off to a steady start with a 21-run opening partnership. Ashleigh Gardner struck twice in two balls to bring Trent Rockets into a strong position. Meg Lanning soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 3rd breakthrough for Trent Rockets.

Danielle Gibson joined skipper Heather Knight at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 29-run partnership for the 4th wicket to take their side past the 50-run mark. Ashleigh Gardner came back and picked up the wicket of Danielle Gibson to provide the 4th breakthrough for her side. Skipper Heather Knight soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 5th breakthrough for Trent Rockets.

Charlie Dean joined Deepti Sharma at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 29-run partnership for the 6th wicket to take their side past the 100-run mark. Alana King picked up the wicket of Charlie Dean to provide the 6th breakthrough for her side. London Spirit were eventually restricted to 127/7 in their quota of 100 deliveries. They fell 31 runs short of the target.

Deepti Sharma (30 off 23 balls), skipper Heather Knight (29 off 20 balls), Meg Lanning (23 off 18 balls), and Danielle Gibson (13 off 10 balls) were the top performers with the bat for London Spirit. Ashleigh Gardner (20-7-23-3), Alna King (20-5-23-3), Heather Graham (20-5-23-0), and skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt (15-6-13-0) were the top performers with the ball for Trent Rockets.

Ashleigh Gardner was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant match-winning spell (20-7-23-3) with the ball for her side. She played a crucial role in helping her side get back to winning ways, thus keeping their qualification hopes alive with a comprehensive 31-run victory against London Spirits.
