History:

Initially delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the inaugural edition of The Hundred took place in 2021. The Oval Invincibles, Southern Brave, and Birmingham Phoenix emerged as the standout teams, progressing to the knockouts. Based on their league rankings, the Brave earned a direct spot in the final, while the Phoenix suffered a loss in the Eliminator. In the final, the Invincibles secured a comprehensive victory over the Brave, marking their first championship win.

The 2022 season saw the Oval Invincibles begin their title defense in dominant fashion, finishing at the top of the league standings and earning a direct berth in the final. Southern Brave and Trent Rockets faced off in the Eliminator, with the Brave narrowly securing a win to reach their second consecutive final. Despite their efforts, Southern Brave once again fell short, with the Invincibles retaining their championship convincingly.

The Invincibles’ dream of a three-peat came crashing down early in the 2023 season as they finished 5th on the points table. Meanwhile, the Brave showcased remarkable consistency, advancing to the knockouts for the third consecutive season, the only team to do so. The highlight of the season was the remarkable turnaround by the Welsh Fire, who, after finishing at the bottom in 2021 and 2022, made it to the Eliminator alongside the significantly improved Northern Superchargers. Ultimately, the Southern Brave emerged as the 2023 champions, their consistency finally rewarded after two previous runner-up finishes.

Format:

The eight city-based teams will each play four matches at home and four away, facing every other team once and their nearest regional rivals twice, making up a total of 32 league games. The top-ranked team on the points table will advance directly to the final, while the 2nd and 3rd seeded teams will compete in an Eliminator.
