The inaugural season of the Fairbreak Global Invitational T20 tournament concluded on May 15 with Tornadoes winning the championship. A total of six teams, namely, Falcons, Barmy Army, Sapphires, Spirit, Tornadoes and Warriors, participated in the competition that was played from May 4 in Dubai, in association with Cricket Hong Kong. There were some scintillating performances across the tournament. Let’s look at the top performers.

Most Runs
Falcons’ Chamari Athapaththu top scored with 313 runs in seven matches. The left-handed opening batter from Sri Lanka averaged 52.16 and scored at a strike rate of 139.11. The swashbuckling batter hit 38 boundaries and 14 sixes in total. Her count of 38 boundaries and 14 sixes was the highest and second-highest respectively by any player in this tournament.

Highest Individual Score
Spirit’s Sophia Dunkley registered the highest score in the competition with a blistering 123 not out off 73 balls in the third place play off against Barmy Army. She completed the tournament as the third highest run getter with 263 runs in seven matches, including one century and one half-century.

Best Batting Average
Tornadoes’ captain Stafanie Taylor had the best batting average at the end of the tournament. The right handed middle order batter from West Indies muscled 174 runs in five innings at a breathtaking average of 87. She remained not out in three out of her five innings. She registered one half-century and had the best score of 78 not out against Barmy Army.

Barmy Army’s Deandra Dottin scored two half-centuries and a century which was the highest in this tournament. The right handed opening batter from West Indies was the leading run getter for her team and second highest overall with 289 runs. She had the best score of 111 against Spirit in the competition.
Best Strike Rate
With a stellar strike rate of 179.79, Spirit’s captain Nicola Carey had the best strike rate in this tournament. The attacking left-handed middle-order batter from Australia pummeled 178 runs in seven innings, including the best of 70 against Sapphires.

Spirit’s Sophie Ecclestone was the leading wicket-taker in this tournament. The left-arm spinner from England scalped 17 wickets, including a five wicket haul, in seven matches at an average of 7.64 and an economy of 5.23. She also registered the best bowling figures in an innings when she claimed 5-8 in 3.1 overs against Tornadoes.

Spirit’s Shizuka Miyaji had the best bowling average in this tournament. The left-arm spinner from Japan bowled seven overs and picked up six wickets conceding 33 runs at an average of 5.50, strike rate of 7 and economy of 4.71.

Hat-trick
Sapphires’ Grace Harris was the only bowler in the tournament to pick up a hat-trick. The right arm off spinner from Australia achieved the feat against Barmy Army when she bagged 5-22 in four overs. She completed the competition as the third highest wicket-taker with seven wickets in four matches.
