Pakistan women’s team has taken a one-nil lead going into the second game of the three-match series. In the first T20I, the Pakistan women won the toss and opted to bat first but this decision didn’t seem like going their way with them losing as many as two wickets inside the first three overs. But then the Pakistan women’s team captain Bismah Maroof (34 runs off 29 balls) and Omaima Sohail (33 runs off 36 balls) steadied the ship with 61 runs third-wicket partnership. This partnership along with Sidra Nawaz’s quickfire 16 of five balls propelled Pakistan’s score to 126 from their full quota of overs. For Bangladesh Jahanara Alam was the pick of the bowlers picking up four wickets giving away just 17 runs.

In reply to Pakistan’s score of 126 Bangladesh women came close to chasing the score, thanks to a blistering knock by Rumana Ahmed but eventually fell short by 12 runs. Earlier in the chase, Bangladesh lost both their openers early. After that Nigar Sultana(17 runs off 30 balls)and Sanjida Islam (14 runs off 29 balls) did the resurrection act, but consumed a lot of deliveries and both of them were dismissed within the span of ten deliveries. Rumana Ahmed who came in at the dismissal of Nigar Sultana scored 50 runs from 30 balls. Rumana scored as many as 21 runs in the penultimate over to bring down the target to 17 runs from six balls but was bowled out in the ultimate over, taking all the Bangladesh’s hopes with her.

The second game will be a do or die game for the Bangladesh women’s team . While their bowlers bowled well to restrict Pakistan’s team to a low score their batsmen would want to make sure that they don’t use up deliveries and keep the scoreboard ticking. Pakistan would not take the Bangladesh team lightly anymore.
