Preview

The Pakistan women’s team with the win in the first ODI now have made sure that even if they lose the second and the last ODI, the series will be drawn. But with the performance, they have shown in the last few games, it will be very difficult for the Bangladesh Women’s team to get past them.

In the first ODI, the Pakistan women’s team won the toss and elected to bat first. They were slow to start scoring just 59 runs in the first twenty overs, opener Nahida Khan scored 68 runs off 97 balls with other batters scoring in the twenties and thirties before throwing it away. Whenever the Bangladesh team picked up a wicket another one followed. Eventually, the Pakistan team ended up scoring 215 runs before they were bowled out in the penultimate over. Jahanara Alam was again the pick of the Wickets for Bangladesh picking up three scalps.

In reply to Pakistan’s total of 215 runs the Bangladesh team didn’t get off to a start losing three wickets inside the first ten overs. Many of Bangladesh’s batters got starts but couldn’t get going losing wickets at regular intervals meant the Bangladesh team fell short by 29 runs. A fighting 58 runs from Nigar Sultana did give them hopes for a brief while but a total of 215 was always going to be tough.

The second ODI is the last chance for the Bangladesh women’s team to win a game on this tour, a tour that has been full of unfulfilled promises. While Pakistan women’s team would want to secure a straight win and whitewash their opponents.
