Opting to bat first, the Lions Women strode out to build a foundation, relying heavily on their opening combination to set the tone early in the innings. Opening batters Tazmin Brits and Neo Molefe established a strong opening partnership of 75 runs off 58 balls. Brits showcased explosive strokeplay, compiling a top score of 60 runs off 41 balls with 10 boundaries and a six at a strike rate of 146.34. Molefe played a crucial supporting role, scoring 18 off 24 deliveries before falling catch to Wyngaard off Paulinah Mashishi’s bowling in the 9.4 over with the score at 75.

Following the opening breakthrough, Karabo Meso joined Brits to add 14 runs for the second wicket. The partnership ended when Eliz-Mari Marx broke through Brits’ defense to bowl her for 60 in the 12.1 over at 89/2. Meso continued to hold one end together, scoring a lively 34 off 29 balls featuring 5 boundaries. However, the lower-middle order struggled to build sustained momentum against tight Titans bowling. Chloe Tryon managed just 3 off 6 balls before being caught by Mgwenya off Marx in the 14.6 over with the score at 101/3.

Mieke van Voorst chipped in with 5 off 5 balls before being trapped lbw by Luyanda Nzuza at 115/4 in the 16.4 over. Meso’s resistance ended in the 18.4 over when she was caught by Wolvaardt off Masabata Klaas for 34, leaving the team at 126/5. Shabnim Ismail was then caught by Nzuza off Marx for 1 run in the 19.3 over at 129/6. Unbeaten contributions from Sunette Viljoen (8* off 10 balls) and Sarah Nettleton (2* off 2 balls) along with 1 extra helped Lions Women finish their 20 overs at 132/6.

The Titans Women bowling effort was spearheaded by Eliz-Mari Marx, who delivered outstanding figures of 3/26 in 4 overs. She was supported by disciplined spells from Paulinah Mashishi (1/22 in 4 overs), Masabata Klaas (1/22 in 3 overs), and Luyanda Nzuza (1/19 in 3 overs). Caitlin Wyngaard (0/24 in 4 overs) and A Mgwenya (0/19 in 2 overs) also kept the scoring rate in check.

Chasing a target of 133 runs, Titans Women made short work of the chase through an explosive, unbroken opening stand between Laura Wolvaardt and captain Anneke Bosch. Wolvaardt unleashed an extraordinary display of power hitting, smashing an unbeaten 91 runs off just 41 balls at a staggering strike rate of 221.95, an innings containing 11 fours and 6 maximums. At the other end, skipper Anneke Bosch provided ideal support, scoring 42* off 24 balls with 6 boundaries and a six at a strike rate of 175.00. Together, the duo posted a mammoth 137-run partnership in just 10.4 overs to power Titans Women past the target without losing a single wicket.

The innings included 4 extras consisting of 1 bye, 1 leg bye, 1 no-ball, and 1 wide. The Lions Women bowling attack proved unable to stem the flow of runs, as Shabnim Ismail conceded 16 runs in 2 overs, while Ayabonga Khaka gave away 21 runs in 2 overs. Relebohile Mkhize bowled 1.4 overs for 27 runs, Chloe Tryon conceded 19 runs in 2 overs, and Sarah Nettleton went for 19 runs in her sole over. Raisibe Ntozakhe (0/12 in 1 over) and Mieke van Voorst (0/21 in 1 over) were also unable to break the stand, concluding a decisive victory for the Titans.
