Marufa Akter’s International Career
Marufa’s breakthrough came in November 2022, when she received her maiden call-up to the Bangladesh squad for the ODI and T20I series against New Zealand. She stepped into the senior spotlight at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, picking up 4 wickets, with her best being 3/23 against Sri Lanka, a performance that announced her as a genuine strike bowler for Bangladesh.
One of Marufa’s most memorable moments came on 16 July 2023, in the first ODI against India. Bowling with discipline and aggression, she picked up 4 wickets for 29 runs in 7 overs, steering Bangladesh to their first-ever ODI win against India by 40 runs.
