Role: Batter

Rubya Haider Jhilik, a left-handed batter and wicketkeeper whose journey is only beginning at the international level but already carries the promise of stability and versatility for the side. Rubya’s entry into the national setup came relatively late compared to some of her peers, but her persistence and performances in the domestic circuit eventually earned her recognition.
In April 2023, she received her maiden call-up to Bangladesh’s ODI and T20I squads for the away series against Sri Lanka, a proud moment marking her elevation to the senior stage. Soon after her debut, Rubya was drafted into the Bangladesh A team for the inaugural ACC Women’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup (2023). There, she gained valuable exposure, helping the side reach the final before finishing as runners-up against India A. These experiences at the development and senior levels gave her a platform to learn and adapt to the demands of international cricket.
Still new to the international stage, Rubya has had limited opportunities with the bat. In six ODI innings, she has scored 58 runs, with flashes of potential that suggest more is to come as she gains experience. At 28, Rubya represents a slightly older generation of debutants in Bangladesh cricket, but that maturity could serve her well as she looks to cement her place in the side. With Bangladesh women’s cricket continuing to grow in competitiveness on the global stage, the team needs reliable batters who can complement their bowling strength, and Rubya has the tools to become one of them.
