The display of Sportswomanship
The latest addition of WBBL ( women’s big bash league) displayed some quality spirit of cricket. The match was between Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunders. Alex Blackwell showed true sportswomen spirit.
It was the fourth ball of fifteenth over and the sixers were on the score of 101-2. The New Zealand batter Sara McGlashan was on 23 from 27 balls when she was out stumped. Except she wasn’t out.
As McGlashan tried to play the ball on the leg side, blackwell the keeper came quickly to the ball and stumped her. One of the easiest decision for the umpire because the batter was clearly out of her ground when the stumps were broken. But McGlashan wasn’t going anywhere because Blackwell didn’t want her to.
Blackwell withdrew her appeal as she thought, she came in the way of Batswoman and as per the Law 27.1, neither umpire shall give a batsman out, even though he may be out under the Laws, unless appealed to by a fielder”
The decision of Thunder’s skipper was appreciated by everyone.
