Mayhem Anees and Komal Khan guide Pakistan to 104/5

Pakistan lost the wicket of Fizza Fiaz on the 3rd ball of the innings after skipper Zoofishan Ayyaz won the toss and opted to bat first. Ravail Farhan joined Komal Khan at the crease and the pair led the recovery with a 24-run 2nd wicket partnership. Rachana Chaudhary picked up the wicket of Ravail Khan to provide the 2nd breakthrough for Nepal. And as they say, one brings two, Pakistan lost Areesha Ansari on the 2nd ball outside the powerplay to bring Nepal firmly back into the contest.

Maham Anees joined opening batter Komal Khan at the crease and the duo took their side past the 50-run mark with a 41-run 4th wicket partnership. Seemana KC dismissed Komal Khan (38 off 43 balls) to provide the much-needed breakthrough for her side. Pakistan eventually posted a total of 104/5 in their quota of 20 overs courtesy of another crucial 30-run partnership between skipper Zoofishan Ayyaz and Maham Anees (29* off 38 balls) for the 5th wicket.

The pair of Maham Anees (29* off 38 balls), and Komal Khan (38 off 43 balls) accounted for a significant amount (64%) of the team’s total for Pakistan. Rachana Chaudhary (4-1-11-1), Riya Sharma (4-0-11-1), skipper Puja Mahato (4-0-27-2), and Seema KC (3-0-16-1) were the stand-out performers with the ball for Nepal.

Nepal chased down the 105-run target with six wickets in hand and one over to spare to seal a famous victory against Pakistan. The Nepal skipper Puja Mahato (47* off 47 balls) stood tall in the run chase to guide her side over the line with an unbeaten 39-run 5th-wicket partnership between her and Seemana KC (12 off 12 balls). It was also the highest partnership of the run chase.

Fatima Khan (4-0-11-1), Quratulain Ahsen (4-0-13-1), and Mahnoor Zeb (4-0-22-0) were the stars with the ball for Pakistan.

Nepal skipper Puja Mahato was awarded the Player of the Match for her sensational all-round performance. She returned with match figures of 4-0-27-2 with the ball and also scored an unbeaten, run-a-ball 47* (47 balls) to guide her side over the line playing a pivotal role in their memorable victory.
