WPL 2025 Auction: Associate Players to Watch Out For

The eagerly anticipated WPL 2025 Auction is set to take place on December 15 in Bengaluru at 3 PM. A total of 120 players, including 91 Indians and 29 overseas players, will go under the hammer. Among the overseas contingent, three players from Associate nations—two from the UAE and one from Scotland—are in the mix.

An intriguing feature of the WPL is that Associate players can be included in the playing XI without being classified as overseas players. This strategic advantage makes them valuable options for franchises. If you wish to know about the oldest players in the list, click here.

Here’s the List of Associate Players Registered for the WPL Auction:

1) Sarah Bryce (Scotland)

The Scottish wicket-keeper batter has registered at a base price of INR 10 lakhs. Bryce, a top-order batter, recently made her debut in the WBBL with the Sydney Sixers, where she scored 169 runs in her maiden season.

Her inclusion as an Associate player without being counted as an overseas option makes her a compelling choice for franchises. Her ability to contribute with the bat and behind the stumps adds versatility to any team.

2) Theertha Sathish (UAE)

Theertha Sathish, a wicket-keeper batter from the UAE, has also set her base price at INR 10 lakhs. The left-handed top-order batter has an impressive record in T20Is, having played over 75 matches and scored more than 1,600 runs.

She was the leading run-scorer in the recently concluded Namibia Women’s T20I Tri-Series, amassing 245 runs in six matches. While her left-handed batting and wicket-keeping skills make her an appealing option, her lack of franchise league experience could be a challenge for teams.

3) Samaira Dharnidharka (UAE)

Known for her all-round capabilities, Samaira Dharnidharka is another promising player in the auction, with a base price of INR 10 lakhs. The 17-year-old fast-bowling all-rounder has played 62 matches, scoring over 200 runs and taking 43 wickets.

Her medium-pace bowling and potential as a middle-order batter are significant assets. However, her relative lack of pace and experience in high-pressure situations might be a factor for teams to consider.

These Associate players bring unique skills and a strategic advantage under the WPL rules, which allow them to feature in the playing XI without being classified as overseas players. Franchises looking to optimize their team combinations while adding depth will find these players intriguing options in the upcoming WPL Auction.

Stay tuned to see where Sarah Bryce, Theertha Sathish, and Samaira Dharnidharka land in this exciting third edition of the Women’s Premier League!
