Following a successful inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) in March 2023 in Mumbai, the 2nd edition of the marquee tournament is upon us, scheduled from the 23rd of February, 2024, to the 17th of March, 2024, with matches to be played in Bangalore and Delhi. From format and broadcasting details to squads and schedule, here’s everything you need to know about this 2024 WPL edition.
The tournament’s curtain-raiser will feature a contest between last year’s finalists, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore at 7:30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST). Ahead of the high-octane curtain-raiser clash, top Bollywood celebrities; Shahrukh Khan, Kartik Aaryan, Shahid Kapoor, and Sidharth Malhotra, among others, are set to grace the opening ceremony of WPL 2024 that commences at 6:30 PM IST.
Format:
The group stage will follow a double round-robin format, with each team going up against the others twice, playing a total of eight games. The table-topper of the 5-team points table will advance to the final, while the second and third-seeded sides will face off in the eliminator.
