Day 4 of the Senior Women’s T20 tournament 2021-22 saw 18 matches being played today. Out of the 18 matches, 12 were played in the morning and six were played in the evening. In this article, we will look at the 12 matches that were played in the morning.
Nagaland beat Pondicherry by 7 wickets
Nagaland registered their fourth win on the trot as they beat Pondicherry by seven wickets at Amingaon Cricket Ground. Batting first, Pondicherry were reduced to a modest 9-108 in 20 overs. Yuvashri top-scored with a 25-ball 35. While for Nagaland, PN Khemnar wreaked havoc with the ball as she scalped 4-30 in four overs. In reply, Nagaland completed the formalities in 17.5 overs, winning the match by seven wickets. Opening batter Kiran Navgire was again in the thick of things as she led the run chase with an unbeaten 91 off 59 balls, including 12 boundaries and five sixes.

Bengal beat Saurashtra by 10 wickets
In a lopsided affair, Bengal handed a crushing 10-wicket defeat to Saurashtra at the JSCA Oval Ground, Ranchi. Batting first, Saurashtra were reduced to a miserly 8-77 in 20 overs. Apart from T Dharani who top-scored with 23 runs off 36 balls, none of the other Saurashtra batters could muster a double-digit score. SP Aich was the pick of the bowlers for Bengal as she claimed 3-6 in three overs. In reply, Bengal made light work of the run chase as they achieved the target in 14.2 overs without losing a wicket. The opening pair of Mita Paul (25 not out off 41 balls) and Deepti Sharma (50 not out off 45 balls) sealed the deal.

Uma Chetry’s half-century went in vain as Assam lost to Punjab by six wickets at the JSCA International Stadium Complex. Batting first, Assam posted 3-112 in 20 overs, thanks to Chetry who starred with the bat muscling an unbeaten 63 off 61 balls. In reply, Punjab took 16.2 overs to win the match. Wicket-keeper and opening batter Taniya Bhatia led the run chase from the front with a patient 32 off 36 balls. Pragati Singh took on from where Bhatia left and plundered a blistering 32 not out off 22 balls to help her team cross the line. Both the teams had ordinary outings with the ball.

Riding on twin half-centuries from Sheerazah Banoo (54 not out off 55 balls) and Rubia Syed (94 not out off 52 balls), Jammu & Kashmir posted a competitive score of 149 in 20 overs against Manipur at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara. In reply, Manipur had a horrid outing with the bat as they were dwindled down to 9-39 in 20 overs. Milan Y was the lone warrior for Manipur as she fought her way to score 22 runs off 34 balls. On the other hand, Sandhya was the wrecker-in-chief for Jammu & Kashmir as she struck with 4- in four overs.

Chasing a modest score of 91, Maharashtra snatched victory from the jaws of defeat as they crossed the line against Kerala with two wickets to spare at CAP Ground 3. Batting first, Kerala were bowled out for 90 in 20 overs. Captain Sajana S top scored with 30 runs off 39 balls for Kerala while for Maharashtra, Maya Sonawane spun the web to pick up 4-12 in four overs. In reply, Maharashtra completed the formalities in 18 overs to win the match by two wickets. Opening batter SS Shinde starred with the bat as she mustered 26-ball 24 while for Kerala Mrudhula VS was the pick of the bowlers as she bagged 3-21 in four overs.

Batting first, Tripura managed to post 7-109 in 20 overs against Jharkhand at the Greenfield Stadium. MR Dey top-scored with an undefeated 29 off 30 balls lower down the order for Tripura. On the other hand, Jharkhand had a good outing with the ball, thanks to Nidhi B and Arti who clinched two wickets apiece. In reply, Jharkhand’s opening pair in Mamtha Kanojia (38 not out off 59 balls) and Ashwani (36 runs off 26 balls) set the tone for the run chase and steered their team to a six-wicket win with five balls to spare. With the ball for Tripura, MK Rabidas was the most successful one as she accounted for 2-16 in four overs.

After a thrilling win over Baroda in the last match, Uttarakhand suffered an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of Goa at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur. Batting first, Uttarakhand were reduced to 8-85 in 20 overs and in reply Goa completed the formalities in 18.2 overs. While Reena Jindal top scored for Uttarakhand with a 20-ball 24, for Goa it was Purvaja Verlekar who led the run chase with a 47-ball 31. With the ball, Uttarakhand’s Prema was the pick of the bowlers as she claimed 2-13 in four overs while for Goa it was Rupali Chavan who rattled the opposition with 3-20 in four overs.

Delhi registered their second straight win in the competition as they beat Chandigarh by eight wickets at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium Ground C. The efforts of Chandigarh’s twin half-centurions, Monika Pandey (58 not out off 59 balls) and captain Amanjot Kaur (50 not out off 47 balls) went in vain as their team failed to defend 134. On the other hand, Delhi’s run chase was led by their opening batter Priya Punia who smashed a delectable 74 not out off 62 balls to power her team to an eight wicket win with three balls to spare. Both the teams had ordinary outings with the ball.

In a nail-biting thriller, Tamil Nadu got the better of Chhattisgarh by just five runs at the St. Xavier’s KCA Cricket Ground. Batting first, Tamil Nadu piled up a modest score of 6-105 in 20 overs, thanks to Arshi Choudhary who top scored with 33 runs off 39 balls. In reply, Chhattisgarh fought hard however they fell shy of just five runs as they were restricted to 5-100 in 20 overs. A Eloksi was the pick of the bowlers for Tamil Nadu as she grabbed 3-18 in four overs to tame Chhattisgarh.

Batting first, Madhya Pradesh posted a respectable score of 8-133 in 20 overs, riding on captain Pooja Vastrakar’s brilliant 45 off 39 balls. On the other hand for Himachal Pradesh, it was NM Chauhan who starred with the ball as she picked up 3-22 in four overs. In reply, Himachal Pradesh failed to achieve the target despite a valiant effort from their captain Sushma Verma who mustered an unbeaten 57 off 56 balls. Priti Yadav was the top performer with the ball for Madhya Pradesh as she struck with 2- in four overs.

Chasing 135 in 20 overs, Uttar Pradesh completed the formalities in 18.5 overs. Captain Muskan Malik led from the front with an unconquered 47 off 36 balls with wicket-keeper Shipra Giri contributing with an useful 41 off 34 balls. On the other hand, the effort of Gujarat’s half-centurion Sarvi (68 runs off 68 balls) went in vain as her team failed to defend 134.

On the other hand, G Trisha was the pick of the bowlers for Hyderabad as she claimed 2-21 in four overs. In reply, Hyderabad were reduced to 7-104 in 20 overs, thanks to Saranya Gadwal who chipped in with 3-13 in four overs. G Trisha’s 56 not out went in vain as her team failed to cross the line.
