Know Your Player – Veda Krishnamurthy

The right-hand power-hitting batter usually comes in at number 5 as part of India’s middle order. She brings her experience as a finisher to the side. She has had her ups and downs being in and out of the team. She too has played in the WBBL though she would not have had fond memories of her stint in 2017-2018. India will look to her to keep her nerves and see the side through in any nail-biting situations. She’s been guilty in the past of not converting her starts and the World Cup offers a shot at redemption. She can draw inspiration from her whirlwind knock of 70 runs from 45 balls in the 2017 ODI World Cup semi-final against New Zealand which proved instrumental in taking India to the final. She also batted well during India A tour to Australia.
