“Running between the wickets is still an area of concern,” says Soniya Dabir

The league stage is done right: 4 out of 4. Srilanka winning the toss and elected to bat was the best thing happening for the Indian Team before the semi-finals. They are done with chasing as well and that too very comfortably. Deepti Sharma started off well. It was expected to see those firecrackers from Chamari. A superb wicket maiden over by Rajeshwari Gaikwad changed things for the Indian Team.

Brilliant bowling spell by Radha Yadav and all the spinners, though Shikha went for runs initially she did come back strongly. Superb catching by Veda Krishnamurthy and that’s the reason she is so important to be in the playing eleven. Sri Lanka did have a much-needed partnership between Silva and Dilhari in the end and could manage to score 113 in 20 overs.

A good positive start by Smriti and Shafali. The firecrackers from Shafali just reminded of Virendra Sehwag, some exceptional hitting was seen today to mention a few were that backfoot lofted shot and the way she was playing mind games with the most experienced bowler in the Srilankan team Sriwardane. She did made her think with that improvisation. A good move to send Harman one down. I’m sure it would have helped her gain more confidence. She looked positive. I am sure Harman won’t mind her form and we can expect her to come forward when India needs her the most.

Jemimah and Deepti looked in good form taking it easy rotating the strike. The thinking to be done is for the running between the wickets, which is still an area of concern for India. Definitely, Shafali should particularly focus more on rotating the strike. As always Harman was excellent with those bowling changes.

Keep going strong Indian Team…cheers!
