Loreen Tshuma’s Fifty Powers Tuskers Women to 71-Run Win Over Rhinos

Tuskers Women produced a disciplined all-round performance to defeat Rhinos Women by 71 runs in the Zimbabwe Women’s T20 Cup 2026 at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo, on August 18, 2026. After being asked to bat, Tuskers had to negotiate an impressive opening spell from the Rhinos bowlers before gradually taking control of the contest.

The eventual victory was built around a patient batting effort, a crucial 75-run partnership in the middle overs and an outstanding bowling display that reduced Rhinos to just 62 all out in 18 overs. The result gave Tuskers Women a convincing win in the Zimbabwe Women Domestic T20, with their batting depth and bowling discipline proving too strong for Rhinos.

Tuskers began their innings cautiously, with Lindrose Masina and Loryn Phiri putting together a 16-run opening stand. Phiri struck a boundary during her nine-ball stay but was eventually dismissed for 6, caught by Hillary Marodza off Francisca Chipare. The wicket brought Natasha Mthomba to the crease, but she could add only one run from six deliveries before Chipare struck again, with Portia Chihwai taking the catch.

At 21/2, Tuskers needed a partnership to rebuild, and that is exactly what Masina and Loreen Tshuma provided. The pair settled in and transformed the innings with a crucial 75-run third-wicket partnership. Masina played the anchor role, scoring 37 from 41 balls with five fours, while Tshuma attacked more freely and eventually reached a superb 50 from just 37 deliveries, including nine fours. Their partnership carried Tuskers from 21/2 to 96/3 and laid the foundation for a competitive total.

Tshuma’s half-century was particularly important because Tuskers lost Chiedza Dhururu without scoring, run out by Hillary Marodza and Ashley Munatswa, immediately after reaching 96. Tshuma was then dismissed for 50 at 116/5, also bringing an end to an innings that had provided the bulk of Tuskers’ momentum. Thubelihle Saidi responded with a useful unbeaten 19 from 18 balls, including two fours, while Gracious Nsingo remained not out on 8 from 11 deliveries. The pair added 17 runs to take Tuskers through the final stages.

Extras contributed 12 runs, including nine wides and three no-balls, as Tuskers Women finished on 133/5 from their 20 overs. For Rhinos, Chipare was the standout bowler with 2/15 from four overs, while Ashley Munatswa also claimed 2/20 from four. Kay Ndiraya conceded 29 from her four overs without a wicket, Whitney Bayana finished with 0/24, Hillary Marodza bowled one over for nine, and Natalie Chikandinga conceded 36 from four overs.

Rhinos Women began their chase needing 134, but their innings quickly became a struggle against Tuskers’ disciplined bowling attack. Kelly Ndiraya was dismissed for 1 from five balls, caught by Gracious Nsingo off Philontropic Shango, before Melinda Kachingwe was run out for a duck at 3/2.

Josephine Nkomo attempted to steady the innings and contributed 13 from 25 balls, but her dismissal, lbw to Lindokuhle Mabhera, left Rhinos at 23/3. Portia Chihwai then made 6 from 28 balls, but the scoring rate remained extremely low, and she was caught by Nomvelo Sibanda off Loreen Tshuma at 31/4. Kay Ndiraya followed for 2, bowled by Mabhera, as Rhinos slipped to 46/5.

Francisca Chipare provided a brief spark with an attacking 9 from only six balls, including two fours, but she was run out by Lindokuhle Mabhera and Chiedza Dhururu at 49/6. Captain Ashley Munatswa scored 7 from 15 deliveries, but another run-out, this time involving Thubelihle Saidi and Dhururu, reduced Rhinos to 58/8.

Tanyardzwa Chibahro was bowled by Gracious Nsingo for 2, while Hillary Marodza was run out for 2 and Whitney Bayana was caught by Nomvelo Sibanda off Nsingo for 3. Natalie Chikandinga was left unbeaten without facing a ball as Rhinos were eventually bowled out for 62 in 18 overs.

Tuskers’ bowling performance was the decisive factor. Nomvelo Sibanda opened with an economical one-over spell that cost just one run, while Philontropic Shango claimed 1/6 from two overs. Tendai Makusha was exceptionally miserly, bowling two overs and conceding no runs, although she did not take a wicket.

Loryn Phiri finished with 0/16 from three overs, while Loreen Tshuma complemented her batting contribution with 1/10 from three overs. Lindokuhle Mabhera was one of the major threats, taking 2/18 from three overs and also contributing three fours with the bat during the innings. Gracious Nsingo capped the performance with 2/11 from four overs, restricting Rhinos throughout the chase.

With Tuskers Women posting 133/5 and Rhinos Women managing only 62 all out, Tuskers completed a comprehensive 71-run victory. Loreen Tshuma’s half-century, Lindrose Masina’s valuable 37 and the decisive 75-run partnership set up the match, while the combined bowling effort ensured Rhinos never developed enough momentum in the chase.
