Rather than allowing the game to drift away after a competitive start from Eagles, Tuskers kept picking up wickets at important moments and ultimately secured a convincing win. The result was built around several useful partnerships, with Loreen Tshuma’s 57 off 40 balls providing the standout individual contribution for Tuskers Women, while Runyararo Pasipanodya’s 38 off 38 was the top score for Eagles Women. The Tuskers Women vs Eagles Women clash offered plenty of momentum swings, with both sides showing flashes of quality before Tuskers took control in the decisive stages.

Tuskers Women began their innings positively through Lindrose Masina and Loryn Phiri, although the opening stand did not last long. Masina scored a brisk 27 from 22 deliveries, striking five fours, but was dismissed by Christabel Chatonzwa with the score on 32 in the fifth over. Phiri followed soon after at 41/2 in the sixth over, having made eight from 13 balls with one four.

Natasha Mthomba then joined Loreen Tshuma, and the pair helped rebuild the innings with a 16-run partnership before Mthomba was dismissed for 13 from 13 balls, including one six, at 57/3 in the ninth over. Tshuma remained the key figure in the innings, holding the Tuskers Women batting effort together while continuing to find the boundary. Tasmeen Granger contributed three from 11 balls before falling at 75/4 in the 14th over, leaving Tuskers needing a strong finish.

That finishing phase arrived through a crucial partnership between Tshuma and Chiedza Dhururu. Tshuma accelerated beautifully and reached 57 from 40 balls, hitting six fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 142.50. Dhururu provided valuable support with an unbeaten 16 from 15 balls, while Thubelihle Saidi added an unbeaten six from eight deliveries. Their 56-run partnership for the fifth wicket transformed Tuskers Women’s position from a middling score into a highly competitive one. Tshuma was eventually dismissed by Precious Marange at 131/5 in the 18th over, but Dhururu and Saidi ensured there was no late collapse.

Tuskers Women finished on 145/5 after 20 overs, with 15 extras also contributing to the total. For Eagles Women, Munenyasha Mandizora was the most successful bowler, claiming 2/32 from four overs, while Christabel Chatonzwa took 1/29. Precious Marange returned 1/40, Olinda Chare was the standout economical option with 1/12 from four overs, and Mitchell Mavunga conceded 15 from two overs without a wicket. Ruvarashe Mpofu bowled two overs for 12 runs and also claimed no wicket. The Eagles attack therefore had moments of control, particularly through Chare, but Tuskers’ late acceleration proved decisive.

Chasing 146, Eagles Women needed a confident start, but Tuskers Women’s bowlers ensured that the chase never became comfortable. Betty Mangachena and Vimbai Mutungwindi began the innings, putting together 20 runs before Mutungwindi was dismissed by Philontropic Shango for 16 off 16 balls, including three fours. Mangachena struggled to establish momentum and was the next batter to depart, falling for three from 18 deliveries with the score at 36/2 in the seventh over.

Christabel Chatonzwa then joined Runyararo Pasipanodya, and this became Eagles Women’s most productive partnership of the innings. The pair added 54 runs, taking the score from 36/2 to 90/3 by the 15th over. Chatonzwa made a patient 28 from 35 balls, hitting two fours, while Pasipanodya provided the greater attacking threat with 38 from 38 deliveries and six fours. Their partnership briefly gave Eagles Women hope of mounting a serious challenge to the Tuskers Women total.

However, the game turned again when Chatonzwa was dismissed lbw by Lindokuhle Mabhera at 90/3. The wickets began to arrive more regularly thereafter. Mitchell Mavunga made only four from five balls before falling to Nomvelo Sibanda at 107/4 in the 17th over, and Precious Marange was dismissed for two from five deliveries soon afterwards as Eagles slipped to 115/5. Pasipanodya, who had carried much of the chase, was eventually dismissed at 115/6 in the 20th over, ending a 68-ball effort that had been vital to Eagles’ hopes.

Shebina Maseko was then run out for a three-ball duck, leaving Ruvarashe Mpofu unbeaten on one from one ball as Eagles Women finished on 116/7 after 20 overs. The Tuskers Women bowling attack was led by Nomvelo Sibanda, who delivered an outstanding spell of 4-1-16-3. Her three wickets provided crucial breakthroughs and helped prevent Eagles from building sustained momentum.

Philontropic Shango supported her with 1/16 from three overs, while Tendai Makusha took 1/16 from four overs. Lindokuhle Mabhera claimed 1/26 from 4.1 overs, and Natasha Mthomba bowled two overs for 21 runs without a wicket. Loreen Tshuma also contributed with the ball, finishing with three overs for 15 runs. Their collective effort meant Eagles Women were restricted to 116/7, 29 runs short of the target.
