ODIs: Smriti Mandhana (747 Runs)
Indian southpaw Smriti Mandhana dominated the ODI format in 2024, amassing 747 runs, the most by any batter in the calendar year. Her consistent performances were highlighted by a record four centuries and three fifties, making her the first batter to achieve this feat in a single year. Mandhana’s exploits began with a stellar home series against South Africa, where she smashed 117 in the first ODI and followed it with a career-best 136 in the second, guiding India to a series victory. She finished as the series’ top scorer with 343 runs, earning the Player of the Series accolade. Continuing her form, she registered a crucial hundred against New Zealand in October, steering India to a successful chase of 233. Despite a slow start again, against Australia, Mandhana roared back with a record century at the WACA, scoring 105 in the third ODI.
T20Is: Smriti Mandhana (763 runs)
Smriti Mandhana shone brightly in T20Is, accumulating 763 runs across 23 matches at an impressive average of 42. Her year included two half-centuries during the Women’s Asia Cup, where she scored 173 runs in four games, finishing as the tournament’s third-highest run-scorer. Although her World Cup campaign yielded only 75 runs in four games, Mandhana’s resilience was fully displayed against the Windies as she capped off the year with three consecutive half-centuries in a three-match series against the West Indies, amassing 193 runs and finishing as the leading run-scorer of the series also being the player of the series as a result of India’s series victory over Windies by 2-1.
TESTS: Sune Luus (262 Runs)
South Africa’s Suné Luus led the charts for the most runs in Tests this year. The 28-year-old accumulated 262 runs in three matches.
