They say batters win you matches; bowlers win you tournaments. Today we take a look at some of the most remarkable performances by bowlers in the Women’s Premier League, particularly the hat-trick takers.

Issy Wong vs UP Warriorz
Mumbai Indians’ 20-year-old pacer Issy Wong created history in the inaugural edition of WPL, bagging the tournament’s first-ever hat-trick in the Eliminator clash against UP Warriorz. Issy stepped up when her franchise needed her the most, taking a total of 4 wickets for just 15 runs in 4 overs as Mumbai went on to beat the Warriorz by a whopping 72 runs in the virtual semi-final on Friday. She dismissed Alyssa Healy, Kiran Navgire, Simran, Shaikh and Sophie Ecclestone, with the last three coming in succession to complete the hat-trick.
Deepti Sharma vs Delhi Capitals
Star all-rounder Deepti Sharma scripted history by becoming the first Indian player to claim a hat-trick in the WPL. The right-arm off-spinner spun her web against Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. Her hat-trick helped UP Warriorz claim a thrilling 1-run win. She executed the hat-trick across two spells, trapping Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning for 60 on the last ball of the 14th over, derailing the hosts’ innings while chasing a 139-run target. Her other two wickets came in her next over, dismissing Annabel Sutherland and Arundhati Reddy to complete the hat-trick. She then dismissed Shikha Pandey to finish with 4/19 (4).
Grace Harris vs Delhi Capitals
Grace Harris helped her team earn their first win of the season as she became only the 3rd player to take a hat-trick in WPL history. Harris came in when the Warriorz had Delhi backed into a corner. Bowling the final over of the innings, Harris took the wickets of Nik Prasad, Arundhati Reddy, and Minnu Manni to complete her achievement, as she finished with returns of 4/15 (2.3). Her contribution saw the Capitals bowled out for 144 on being asked to chase 177.
As the WPL continues to grow, these hat-tricks serve as a reminder that game-changing moments aren’t just about explosive batting—bowlers, too, have the power to turn matches on their head and etch their names in history.
