In a season dominated by teams chasing down targets, UP Warriorz flipped the script with a commanding 33-run triumph over Delhi Capitals in Bengaluru. Delhi’s skipper, Meg Lanning, followed the trend of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 by opting to bowl first after winning the toss—an approach that had seen teams secure victories in all seven previous matches this season.

The match turned into a thriller thanks to a brilliant all-round performance, with Grace Harris stealing the spotlight by scripting a stunning hat-trick. Scroll down to relive the thrilling hat-trick moment.

Already having claimed the wicket of Annabel Sutherland on the very first ball of the 13th over, Harris delivered magic in the final over of the innings. With Delhi needing 34 runs off 6 balls after a tight 19th over from Sophie Ecclestone, skipper Deepti Sharma handed the ball to Harris for the final blow.

The drama unfolded instantly. The first ball of the over was a sharp short delivery outside off-stump. Niki Prasad, who had scored 18 off 9 deliveries, tried to clear deep midwicket but mistimed her shot off the toe of the bat, giving Chinelle Henry an easy catch. On the very next delivery, Harris bowled a thigh-high full toss that forced Reddy to back away and attempt a slice, only for the ball to land safely in the hands of Sehrawat at cover point.

The final act came with a tossed-up delivery outside off; Minnu Manni tried to drive it back powerfully, but Harris got both hands to it after a brief juggle, completing her hat-trick. This stunning feat made her only the third player in WPL history to achieve a hat-trick, following teammate Deepti Sharma and Issy Wong.

Earlier in the game, the Warriorz had set a challenging total of 177, thanks to Chinelle Henry, who smashed 62 off just 23 balls. The uncapped seamer Kranti Goud delivered an exceptional spell, grabbing 4 wickets for 25 runs, applying relentless pressure on the Capitals’ batting lineup. Despite Jemimah Rodrigues’ valiant effort—scoring a fluent 56 off 35 balls—the Capitals collapsed under the Warriorz’ bowling attack, eventually getting bowled out for 144.
