Sent in to bat by the Gujarat Giants the UP Warriorz were able to muster a low score of 143 runs at a loss of 9 wickets. The Gujarat bowlers finally came to the party, taking wickets at crucial moments, preventing the Warriorz from building substantial partnerships.

One such over that broke the back of the Warriorz batting was the over by the Indian youngster Priya Mishra, who is playing her second WPL match. In a crucial moment in the match, Mishra, a spin bowler bowled the eleventh over, claiming two vital wickets, Australian heavyweights Tahlia McGrath and Grace Harris in quick succession.

First, she trapped Tahlia McGrath for a duck, with a slider that initially seemed to have an inside edge but was ultimately ruled as pad first by the TV Umpire.

Just two balls later, Mishra castled Grace Harris with a flighted delivery that the batter missed completely, attempting a slog across the line.

With the Warriorz core being built around their international batters, this one over almost brought the match to a standstill. Priya’s skill and brilliance at her craft truly shone as she successfully deceived both the experienced internationals, ensuring a low scoring game.

Mishra didn’t stop there, taking another wicket of the Warriorz skipper Deepti Sharma in the 15th over to finish with impressive bowling figures of 3/25 in 4 overs. Today’s impressive show proved Priya’s caliber, redeeming her from an underwhelming debut where she conceded 29 runs in three overs without taking a wicket.
