While the world is celebrating Valentine’s Day on the 14th of February, Google has initiated to celebrate cricket, yet again in India.

Google celebrates the commencement of the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) as the third season of the celebrated league kicks off on Friday, February 14.

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take on Ashleigh Gardner’s Gujarat Giants at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.

Google, in its official blog, celebrated the start of the 2025 Women’s Premier League, underlining it as a significant groundbreaking step in women’s cricket. It also noted, the league has quickly gained global viewership and staged a platform where the best in the business clash for glory.

In only its second season, the WPL emerged as the most-watched Women’s T20 tournament ever, attracting nearly 150 million viewers through digital streaming and 110 million on traditional television. Google expressed optimism about the league’s future and extended its best wishes to all participating teams.

In its official blog, Google said, “This Doodle celebrates the start of the 2025 Twenty2020 Women’s Premier League cricket season. It’s one of the most notable developments in women’s cricket history, providing a high-profile platform for female players to show off their athleticism and talents.
