Mumbai Indians shared a video of one of their key players, Melie Kerr, gearing up for Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 campaign. A lively social media post with the caption “Tumchi Mumbai-Kerr aali re! #AaliRe” marked the return of the New Zealand all-rounder for another season in Blue and Gold and set the stage for an entertaining season.

Kerr said she was excited to be back with the Mumbai Indians and stated unequivocally that she is now focused on having another successful WPL 2025 season and expects to win the trophy with the team once again.
The video continued with Kerr’s impressive net session, during which her aggressive strokeplay is on display. The all-rounder showed off a variety of skills, from accurate cover drives to fierce pulls, making it clear to opponents what she was keen on doing this season.
For Melie Kerr, the last 12 months have been nothing short of extraordinary. The 23-year-old reflected on the period, saying, “It’s been a pretty cool past 12 months. I am looking forward to being back in Mumbai. It’s been a great year. I’m looking forward to another year and hopefully a win.”
Kerr’s outstanding efforts across series and competitions earned her the title of ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year. In addition to her own achievements, her native country New Zealand won the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Kerr is an essential member of Mumbai Indians, and she also played a key part in their inaugural triumph in 2023. She is one of the league’s most versatile players because of her ability to play attacking cricket, anchor an innings, and contribute with the ball. She has already amassed 364 runs in the WPL and taken 22 wickets.
Melie Kerr’s arrival strengthens an already strong team as the Mumbai Indians try to win the WPL again in 2025. She will definitely be a player to keep an eye on at the event given her excellent form, recent honours, and desire for success. Their first match is set to be played in Vadodara, against Delhi Capitals, on 15th February at 7:30 PM IST.
