Initially, Delhi Capitals seemed on course for a big total, with 64/0 at the end of 7 overs. However, they suffered a dramatic collapse, losing all their wickets for just 49 additional runs in the next 11.3 overs. RCB’s bowlers, particularly Shreyanka Patil claiming 4 wickets against 12 and Sophie Molineux’s 3 wickets for 20 runs, along with Asha Shobhana’s contribution of 2 wickets, restricted Delhi Capitals to a below-par total.

In their chase, RCB’s opening pair of Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine laid a solid foundation with a 49-run partnership. Mandhana scored a steady 31 off 39 balls, while Devine contributed 32 off 27 balls. Ellyse Perry played a responsible innings of 35 runs off 37 balls and alongside Richa Ghosh’s (17* off 11), guided Bangalore to victory.

Shreyanka Patil clinched the Purple Cap for her outstanding performance throughout the season, taking a total of 13 wickets in 8 games.

Ellyse Perry was awarded the Orange Cap for being the highest run-scorer of the tournament, accumulating 347 runs, including 41 boundaries and seven maximums, boasting an impressive strike rate of 125.72 and an average of 69.4 in the 2024 WPL edition.

RCB maintained composure in crucial moments, securing an 8-wicket win and ending Delhi Capitals’ hopes for a trophy for the second consecutive final.

As the franchise celebrates its historic maiden victory after a 17-year wait, former male team skipper and star player, Virat Kohli, extended his congratulations to RCB women’s skipper Smriti Mandhana via a heartfelt video call.
