A good start to the season just got even better for Deepti Sharma as her all-round heroics played an instrumental role in helping the UP Warriorz clinch an edge-of-the-seat thriller against Delhi Capitals by one run. She has been one of the stand-out contributors with the bat for UP Warriorz. She notched up her maiden half-century and stayed unbeaten against Mumbai Indians.

Courtesy of her brilliant knock lower down the order, she received a promotion at the top of the order, when she walked out at number three against Delhi Capitals. UP Warriorz skipper Alyssa Healy won the toss and opted to bat first. UP Warriorz posted 138/8 in their quota of overs on the back of vital contributions from Deepti Sharma (59 off 48 balls), skipper Alyssa Healy (29 off 30 balls), and Grace Harris (14 off 12 balls) for UP Warriorz. Titas Sadhu (3-0-23-2), Radha Yadav (3-0-16-2), and Arundhati Reddy (3-0-15-1) were the top performers with the ball for Delhi Capitals.

Chasing a tricky total of 139, Delhi Capitals got off to a steady start, before they lost the wicket of Shafali Verma. Skipper Meg Lanning stitched a couple of crucial partnerships with Alice Capsy and Jemimah Rodrigues. She notched up her third consecutive half-century before Deepti Sharma picked up the big wicket of the opposition skipper Meg Lanning. The home side Delhi Capitals suffered a horrible collapse, post the departure of their skipper as they lost their last seven wickets for just 44 runs, as a result, falling agonisingly short of the target by 1 run.

Deepti Sharma (4-0-19-4) was the star of the show with the ball, alongside Sophie Ecclestone (4-0-15-1) was the top performer with the ball for UP Warriorz.

Deepti Sharma was awarded the Player of the Match for her all-round brilliance, scoring (59 off 48 balls) with the bat and returning with exceptional match figures (4-0-19-4) with the ball.

Deepti Sharma also became the first Indian bowler to take a hat trick in the history of the Women’s Premier League. She became the 2nd bowler to do so, joining Issy Wong in the list, who managed to do that in the inaugural edition of the WPL. She joins former Indian and Chennai Super Kings pacer Lakshmipathy Balaji in the record books. He achieved the first hat trick by an Indian in the IPL.
