The Delhi Capitals led by skipper Meg Lanning are placed comfortably at the 2nd position in the points table with four points from three games. They clinched a comprehensive 25-run victory against RCB in their last game. The Gujarat Giants led by skipper Beth Mooney, on the other hand, are having a contrasting season as they haven’t managed to get their first victory in the 2nd edition of the WPL so far. As a result, they are strangled at the bottom of the points table.
The Gujarat Giants skipper Beth Mooney won the toss and opted to field first. The Giants made a couple of changes, Tarannum Pathan replaced Sneh Rana, and Veda Krishnamurthy replaced injured Harleen Deol in the playing 11. Jemimah Rodrigues joined skipper Meg Lanning at the crease and the duo stitched another crucial 47-run partnership for the 3rd wicket before Meghna Singh came back and picked up the massive wicket of the opposition skipper Meg Lanning to provide the much-needed breakthrough for the Gujarat Giants. Jemimah Rodrigues soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 4th breakthrough for Gujarat Giants.
Jess Jonassen joined Annabel Sutherland at the crease and the duo stitched a crucial 27-run partnership for the fifth wicket before Ashleigh Gardner dismissed Jess Jonassen to provide the 5th breakthrough for Gujarat Giants. The Delhi Capitals eventually ended up with a total of 163/8 in their quota of overs. Skipper Meg Lanning (55 off 41 balls), Alice Capsey (27 off 17 balls), and Annabel Sutherland (20 off 12 balls) were the top performers with the bat for the Delhi Capitals.
