The Delhi Capitals led by skipper Meg Lanning are placed comfortably at the 2nd position in the points table with four points from three games. They clinched a comprehensive 25-run victory against RCB in their last game. The Gujarat Giants led by skipper Beth Mooney, on the other hand, are having a contrasting season as they haven’t managed to get their first victory in the 2nd edition of the WPL so far. As a result, they are strangled at the bottom of the points table.

The Gujarat Giants skipper Beth Mooney won the toss and opted to field first. The Giants made a couple of changes, Tarannum Pathan replaced Sneh Rana, and Veda Krishnamurthy replaced injured Harleen Deol in the playing 11. The Delhi Capitals also had a couple of changes, Annabel Sutherland replaced Marizanne Kapp and Titas Sadhu replaced Minnu Mani in the playing 11. The Delhi Capitals got off to a steady start, scoring almost 7 runs an over before Meghna Singh picked up the wicket of Shafali Verma to provide the first breakthrough for Gujarat Giants. Alice Capsey joined skipper Meg Lanning at the crease and the duo stitched a crucial 38-run partnership for the 2nd wicket before Meghna Singh dismissed Alice Capsey to provide the 2nd breakthrough for the Gujarat Giants.

Jemimah Rodrigues joined skipper Meg Lanning at the crease and the duo stitched another crucial 47-run partnership for the 3rd wicket before Meghna Singh came back and picked up the massive wicket of the opposition skipper Meg Lanning to provide the much-needed breakthrough for the Gujarat Giants. Jemimah Rodrigues soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 4th breakthrough for Gujarat Giants.

Jess Jonassen joined Annabel Sutherland at the crease and the duo stitched a crucial 27-run partnership for the fifth wicket before Ashleigh Gardner dismissed Jess Jonassen to provide the 5th breakthrough for Gujarat Giants. The Delhi Capitals eventually ended up with a total of 163/8 in their quota of overs. Skipper Meg Lanning (55 off 41 balls), Alice Capsey (27 off 17 balls), and Annabel Sutherland (20 off 12 balls) were the top performers with the bat for the Delhi Capitals. Meghna Singh (4-0-37-4), Ashleigh Gardner (4-0-37-2), and Mannat Kashyap (3-0-16-1) were the top performers with the ball for the Gujarat Giants.

Chasing a target of 164, Gujarat Giants got off to a horrible start as they conceded a maiden in the first over of the run chase, before eventually losing the wicket of Laura Wolvaardt in the 2nd over of the run chase without a run on the board. Ashleigh Gardner joined Veda Krishnamurthy at the crease and the duo stitched a 19-run partnership for the 4th wicket before Radha Yadav picked up the wicket of Veda Krishnamurthy to provide the 4th breakthrough for her side. Kathryn Bryce joined Ashleigh Gardner at the crease and the duo stitched another crucial 20-run partnership for the 5th wicket before Radha Yadav picked up the wicket of Kathryn Bryce to provide the 5th breakthrough for Delhi Capitals.

Tanuja Kanwer joined Ashleigh Gardner at the crease and the duo stitched a 32-run partnership for the 6th wicket before Jess Jonassen foxed Ashleigh Gardner to provide the much-needed breakthrough for her side. The departure of Ashleigh Gardner almost sealed the deal for the Capitals. Gujarat Giants were eventually restricted to 138/8 in their quota of overs, falling short of the target by 25 runs. Ashleigh Gardner (40 off 31 balls), Phoebe Litchfield (15 off 10 balls), and Tanuja Kanwer (13 off 16 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Gujarat Giants. Radha Yadav (4-0-20-3), and Jess Jonassen (4-0-22-3) were the top performers with the ball for Delhi Capitals.

Left-arm spinner Jess Jonassen was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant all-round effort, scoring (11 off 7 balls) with the bat and returning with match figures (4-0-22-3) with the ball, playing a crucial role in helping the Delhi Capitals displace Mumbai Indians from the top of the points table.
