Bio:

Tanuja Kanwer has been a sportsperson from an early age. She used to play gully cricket in her locality until her father saw her talent and enrolled her in the HCC Academy in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. In 2011 she debuted for the Himachal U-19 women’s team and had an amazing season with constant support from the HPCA.

With constant performances for Himachal Pradesh, she was selected for India ‘A’ squad for the Bangladesh tour of India. Following that she was also selected for the India Women’s Emerging team in 2019 for the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, which eventually India won with a stellar performance by Tanuja scalping 4 wickets in the Final and finished as the 2nd highest wicket-taker overall. Following that she was also part of the winning Central Zone team in the Senior Inter Zonal T20 Cup in 2022-23. In 2023-24, in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, she played 7 matches scalping 10 wickets and averaging 9.30 at an economy of 3.87.

She was bought by the Gujarat Giants in the WPL 2023 auction and became the most expensive uncapped player in the same auction with a 50-lakh payday. She played 8 games taking 5 wickets at an economy of 8.85 and emerged well for the Gujarat Giants. It’ll be hoped she further betters her reputation this time around.
