Bio:
Hayley Matthews made her debut for the West Indies side in the T20 format in September 2014, later that year she went on to make her ODI debut in November. She has featured in 88 T20Is and has scored 2026 runs so far.
Averaging nearly 25 with the bat and scoring at a strike rate of 111.87, she has been one of West Indies women’s most consistent and crucial performers. She completes her quota of 4 overs on most occasions for her team and has claimed 91 wickets with best figures of 4/10. With her all-round capabilities, she becomes an integral part of whichever team she plays for.
Mumbai Indians availed her services at the auction held ahead of the WPL 2023 season for a miserly price of INR 40 Lakhs. In the previous edition of the WPL, Hayley was one of the most important players in the line-up. Opening the batting with Yastika Bhatia, she scored 271 runs and got her team to a flying start on most occasions. She also won the purple cap for being the tournament’s highest wicket-taker, as she claimed 16 wickets in 10 matches.
