Pakistan’s 2024 season has proven to be tough, as they have secured only 4 wins against 11 losses from 15 T20 Internationals (T20Is). In July, though they advanced to the Asia Cup semifinal, it was on the back of wins against Nepal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Their campaign ended there with a defeat to the eventual champions, Sri Lanka. Most recently, in September, against South Africa, Pakistan managed to win just one of the three matches.

Pakistan’s history in the T20 World Cups has seen them struggle to progress beyond the league stage. In their last three editions (2018, 2020, and 2023), they managed only one win each, with their best performance in 2016, where they secured two victories. In the upcoming edition, Pakistan finds itself in Group A, facing formidable opponents in six-time and defending champions Australia, Asia Cup champions Sri Lanka, India, and New Zealand.

Scotland has played 11 T20Is in the 2024 season so far, but unfortunately, all three of their matches in a Quadrangular Series earlier this year in the UAE were washed out. However, their subsequent campaign in the World Cup qualifier proved historic, as they secured a spot in their first-ever World Cup with four wins and two losses. Most recently, in a Tri-Series, Scotland achieved back-to-back victories, showcasing their growing prowess on the international stage.

With 5 wins from 8 games this year and momentum on their side, Scotland will be eager to secure their historic first victory in their maiden World Cup campaign. They find themselves in Group B alongside strong teams in England, Bangladesh, South Africa, and the West Indies. As they prepare to take the field, the excitement and determination to make their mark on the tournament are palpable.

Both Pakistan and Scotland have yet to face each other in a T20I, making their upcoming match an ideal opportunity for both teams to build momentum as they head into the main event. This clash promises to be a perfect test, allowing each side to assess its strengths and strategies ahead of their respective campaigns.
