The Indian team led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur announced their squad for the upcoming 9th edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on 27th August 2024. The whole squad including the traveling (wicket-keeper batter Uma Chetry, Tanuja Kanwer, and Saima Thakor) and non-traveling reserves (Raghvi Bist, and Priya Mishra), will be undergoing a 10-day training camp at the NCA in Bengaluru.

Head coach Amol Muzumdar will be the in-charge of the training camp as a part of the World Cup preparations from 10th September 2024. The wicket-keeper batter, Yastika Bhatia, and the 22-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder Shreyanka Patil who have been added to the squad subject to their fitness clearance, will also be a part of the camp. The members of the camp will also play a couple of intra-squad games. India will be playing most of their matches under the lights, except for their match against the arch-rivals Pakistan which will be a day game.

After the conclusion of the camp on 20th September 2024, the players will return home for a short break before they head to the United Arab Emirates on 24th September 2024 for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side is placed in Group A alongside New Zealand, Australia, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Women in Blue will play a couple of warm-up matches against the West Indies on 29th September 2024 and against South Africa on 1st October 2024.

India will commence their World Cup campaign against New Zealand led by skipper Sophie Devine on 4th October 2024 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the 4th match of the tournament from 7:30 PM IST. All the matches of the tournament will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium and the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
