ICC announces revised schedule for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024
We are on the verge of the ultimate pinnacle event in T20 cricket, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament was earlier set to be hosted by Bangladesh, however due to political unrest within the country, it has now been shifted to the United Arab Emirates. Bangladesh will still have the hosting rights alongside UAE to ensure a smooth conduction of the upcoming ICC event.
The upcoming edition is the 9th edition of the tournament since it’s inception in the year 2009. A total of 10 teams namely, India, South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, Scotland, Sri Lanka, Australia, England, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. These teams are divided into two groups A, and B. India are placed in Group A alongside New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Australia, and Pakistan. South Africa are placed in Group B alongside Scotland, West Indies, England and Bangladesh. The tournament is set to commence on 3rd October 2024 and conclude on 20th October 2024.
Before the league stages of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup gets underway, there will be a total of 10 warm-up matches for the participating teams to get used to the conditions on offer. The warm-up matches will commence from 28th September 2024 to 1st October 2024 at the Sevens Stadium and the ICC Academy Grounds in Dubai. The final of the tournament will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 20th October 2024 from 7:30 PM IST.
The Indian women’s team led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur will kickstart their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup campaign on 4th October 2024, against New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the 4th match of the tournament from 7:30 PM IST.
