5th place playoff: Kathryn Bryce’s magnificent 73 helped Scotland defeat Netherlands by 70 runs

1) Kathryn Bryce: The Loughborough player and Scotland Skipper played a stunner of an innings of 73 which helped Scotland to score the highest total of the tournament that is 167.

2) Sarah Bryce: The wicket keeping better helped her skipper with a classy inning of 65. She had a partnership of 119 runs with the skipper Kathryn Bryce, which made them set a huge target of  168 for the Netherlands.

3) Abtaha Maqsood: The young leg spinner from Glasgow bowled a decent spell of 3 for 27 in 4 overs.

A solid partnership between Kathryn and Sarah Bryce helped Scotland to win over the Netherlands by a huge margin of 70 runs at Arbroath on Saturday.

The Netherlands on winning the toss opted to field on a flat deck. Opener Jack was dismissed early for 5, then came skipper Kathryn Bryce, she along with Sarah had a solid partnership between them of 119 runs. Kathryn Bryce scored 73, which is the highest run scored by a player in this tournament. She was equally well supported by opener Sarah Bryce who scored 65. The partnership between them helped Scotland to score the highest total of the tournament that is 167. Scotland ended up the inning at 167 for 5 in 20 overs. With the bowl, Heather Siegers picked up 2 wickets for the Netherlands.

Chasing the target of 168, the Netherlands players were in pressure from ball number one as they had a huge target to chase, the pressure made the Netherlands lose wickets in tandem as they lost 4 wickets very soon. All credits to Scotland bowlers especially Maqsood and Fraser who kept on hitting the good lengths, by the end of power-play the Netherlands were at 13 for 3 in 6 overs which almost sealed the game for Scotland. Though later, Miranda and Robine played a decent inning of 43 and 19 respectively, they failed to chase the target. All credits to Maqsood, she was great with the ball as she bowled an amazing spell of 3 for 27, she was well supported by Fraser which made the Netherlands to all-out for 97 runs in 19.4 overs.
